Medsphere team continues to fracture: Pecaitis leaves Medsphere
Medsphere Corp Posted by Fred Trotter on Thursday September 27, 2007 @ 10:09 AM
from the Medsphere dept.
According to the all-knowing (or pretty darn close) Tim posting at HIStalk "Frank Pecaitis and Medsphere have parted ways". Apparently Pecaitis now works for GE. From what I can tell. Frank Pecaitis was the last of the old-guard leadership still active at Medsphere. Modern Healthcare already broke the story that Ken Kizer is leaving Medsphere "when a successor is found" which apparently has not happened yet. Who is left at Medsphere? This is exactly what I had hoped to prevent: An ongoing pointless lawsuit, leaving the two brother founders twiddling their thumbs, and a company that is tearing itself apart. Digg this article

The tragedy here is 'what could have been' and that many will conclude wrongly that the Free and Open Source Software strategy was a bad one. That would be a mistaken conclusion. It was a combination of refusal to work with the community, civil war and lawsuit that is destroying them. Medsphere could have been the RedHat of medicine but there were those in the company who didn't understand the fundamentals and seized defeat from the jaws of victory. To turn it around, they have to become fully open, drop the lawsuit and re-instate the founders. -- IV
